Coolsculpting (Fat freezing)
Coolsculpting is a non-invasive fat-freezing technique that uses vacuum and freezing, CoolSculpting targets and freezes fat cells. Since these cells freeze at a different temperature to other cells in your body, the device can target specific areas and leave normal tissue unharmed.
The body’s natural processes break down and eliminate the fat cells over the next few weeks and months. This treatment requires no anaesthetic, surgery or incisions and patients can usually go back to work immediately after their treatment, generally experiencing no downtime and minimal or temporary side effects.
How does it work?
CoolSculpting uses a procedure known as cryolipolysis. It works by placing a roll of fat into two panels that cool the fat to a freezing temperature.
The CoolSculpting device, rounded paddles that suction your skin, uses controlled cooling technology. It causes expulsion of excess fat cells from the body, effectively sculpting and defining common trouble spots.
Is CoolSculpting painful?
You may experience some mild discomfort due to the strong suction and extreme cold, you may also experience sensations of pulling, mild pinching, tingling, stinging, or cramping. However, most patients sit comfortable during the treatment.
When will I see result?
After your CoolSculpting treatment your body may be slightly irritated and red, these symptoms will be subsiding in a few days. They are completely normal as it the reaction your body is having to the cold. Some patients may see result in 3 weeks, the most dramatic results will be seen within two months and you could continue to see results within 4 to 6 months after your treatment.
How many CoolSculpting treatment will I need?
One round of CoolSculpting can be effective if you have a small amount of stubborn fat. For larger area, or you have slightly more fat on that area, you may need multiple treatments. Normally patient reach their ideal results after 3 rounds of treatments. It’s best to wait a minimum of 30 days before starting a new session of CoolSculpting, to give the body enough time to react naturally and dispose fat cells.
Where does the fat goes after CoolSculpting?
Fat cells become a waste product and then are processed by the lymphatic system and are eliminated by the body permanently, these fat cells will not be regenerated by the body.
Will the fat come back?
CoolSculpting destroys fat cells in the treated area, and they are eliminated for good. Adults is unable to create new fat cells. CoolSculpting reduce the number of fat cells you have in your body, so that your body cannot store as much fat in the treated area as you could have before. Leaving the area sculpted. CoolSculpting does not remove all fat cells from the treatment area, fat cells that remain in the treated area may have the potential to expand with weight gain.
Are there any side effects?
You may experience mild redness, bruising, swelling or numbness in the treated area. There may also be some tenderness and soreness for about 1-2 weeks, it is like muscle soreness after a workout session.
What should I do before and after CoolSculpting?
Before the treatment, avoid any inflammatory products to help reduce the chance of bruising, after the treatment you may return to your normal daily activities. After the treatment it important to maintain your weight as significant weight gain will compromise best results. Patient should maintain a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and regular exercise. This prevents remaining fat cells in treated area from enlarging.
